Climax, or climacteric period, is a period in the life of each woman, when the female body undergoes serious changes. Together with an age-related decrease in the ovaries work, a complicated transformation of all body functions occurs, which involves changes in the vegetative and nervous systems. During climax the female body is getting ready to «turn off» one of its main functions – the reproductive function.
There are numerous symptoms that indicate menopause. First symptoms include hot flashes, chills, sweating, headache, increase or decrease in blood pressure, irritability, drowsiness, weakness, anxiety, depression, mood disturbances, loss of attention, insomnia, decreased libido.
Later, the woman can experience dryness in the vagina, pain during intercourse, itching and burning, dry and weak nails, wrinkles, dry hair and hair loss.
Climax has several stages.
Usually, premenopause begins at the age of 45. However, the onset can appear individually for each woman: sometimes the first signs appear at the age of 38-40 years, while some women hardly feel any changes until they turn 50. Premenopause is characterized by irregular menstruation and longer intervals between the periods. The woman can feel hot flashes, headache and mood swings.
The average age for menopause is 50-53 years. It is the time when the woman has her last menstruation. After that the ovaries stop working, and mensuration does not come again. The changes caused by estrogen shortage become more pronounced. The bones become fragile, some cardiovascular diseases or even diabetes mellitus may develop.
This term refers to a period from the last menstruation to the end of the life. During postmenopause, all the uncomfortable symptoms consistent with menopause tend to disappear.
